This new edition of a pioneering book on prayer includes a unique interpretation of the biblical command to "pray always" - a call to pray creatively, at all times and in every circumstance. It contains a new introduction and beautifully designed text for reflective reading and prayer. It teaches readers how to pray with their eyes and nose, taste buds, hands and feet. Each chapter includes ways to pray as well as Hay's own original, and creative prayers.

"There are few people who consistently give us both depth and breadth--while never closing that clever and humorous edge--as Ed Hays. If a holy man is one who does not take himself too seriously, then Ed is such a man. Fortunately, he always takes God and his readers very seriously!" --Richard Rohr, O.F.M. Father Edward M. Hays is the author of more than thirty books on contemporary spirituality. He was the co-founder and moving spirit of Forest of Peace Publishing and founding director of Shantivanam, a Midwest center for contemplative prayer. He has served as a chaplain of the state penitentiary in Lansing, Kansas, parish priest, and spiritual director. Hays has spent extended periods of pilgrimage in the Near East, the Holy Land, and India and remains a prolific writer and painter.

I ordered this book for a class I was taking on Christian prayer. It came packaged properly and looked exactly like the picture. It was a very easy read and helped me out significantly with my class. It's not to deep of a prayer book where it's hard for anyone to understand, it's simple and informative. If you are taking a class and need the book or just want to brush up on your prayer habits, I suggest this book. I hope this review helps.

I have read, learned a lot and enjoyed Ed Hays books. I recently purchased this book for two of my daughters. One is a new grandmother and the other has children in high school. Young grandmas and moms need a good book to help them calm down and remember God is in charge when treading through these life changing times. Ed Hays has a wonderful of making life prayerful and positive. He has been my "mentor" in helping me grow throughout my life.

This is a book filled with wonderful insights offering the suggestions on how to pray always. I am going to use it for retreat. The only problem is that it is not in audio format. I would read it over and over if it was on cd's. Alice Metrick

Edward Hayes is an incitefully spritual author. I pick this book up almost daily, and sometimes more than once. His prayer for patience, among many others, is very comforting and all are innovative. He is not offering prayers for people of any one religion - it seems they address all religions, or I should say spiritual persuasions. Definitely a keeper. I am giving a copy to each of my closest friends.
