Review Text

This is probably my very favorite all time children's book. Mercer Mayer is, in my opinion, a genius. The mind that wrote and illustrated this book can only belong to someone remarkable and extraordinary. “But before the mailman came, a Stamp-Collecting Trollusk crept up to the mailbox, stole the letter, and gabbled away with a smirk on his snerk.” What could possibly be more fun than gabbling away with a smirk on your snerk? It is most certainly on my bucket list to do so.

The greatest children's book ever written.

I made the mistake of waiting too long to order when I found a decent price for a hardcover one of these and then had to wait over a month to find another. They reprinted the Zipperump-a-zoo book recently and I was disappointed to find this one was overlooked. Such a good story with illustrations that will stick with children for a lifetime! My son was mesmorized by the Typhoonigator and he thinks Yalappapus is just the silliest word ever. I'm very happy I was able to make classic Mercer Mayer a part of his personal library.

Bought for my niblings, after rediscovering it recently and remembering reading it as a child. They absolutely loved it. I do wish it would come back into print. It is such a wonderful children's book.

This book was exactly what I wanted, same artwork, same story and in better shape than the one at the bookstore for $75.

I used to read this to my kids when they were five or six. They were mesmerized, and had me read it over and over. My Daughter told me she had been looking for it, but couldn't find it. I found it on Amazon, and she called me the other night and told me that my Grandchildren loved it too.

This is a delightful children's book, with beautiful illustrations done by the author. i enjoyed reading this to the kids as much as they loved hearing it - over and over. Hope they come out with a new edition so that today's young ones can enjoy it too.
